Vintage Mid-Century Kosta Boda 1978 Goran Warff 10.5 Raindrop Art Glass Vase

Vintage Mid-Century Kosta Boda 1978 Goran Warff 10.5 Raindrop Art Glass Vase. This absolutely stunning Scandinavian art glass vase is a beautiful example of renowned designer Goran Warff's works for Kosta Boda. Created in Mid-Century Sweden and aptly dubbed the'Raindrop' Vase, this striking piece fits again into Warff's common themes of glacial waters, icy pools & cool Northern nights.

Standing at 10.5 tall this particular piece is the largest in the series. With its stunning fluid curves running down it's long neck into it's globular bowl it's raindrop concept is captured and expertly enhanced by the optical effect of it's cased form. This with its dramatic size & asymmetric droplet shape make it a striking addition to any collection or display.

Unsigned but widely attributed & published. Not sure why this particular one is unsigned though it's not uncommon for Kosta Boda & Warff.

Attributed online is the product number #47800. Now Kosta Boda numbering is one of life's great mysteries to glass dealers, though I have been taught to interpret it as 4 meaning the type of product it is (4 for vase, 5 for bowl etc) then the next two numbers are the year so in this case 1978 and then the last two numbers are the product line number. This is of course open to contradiction as some pieces are just numbered differently! Slightly over 10.5in tall at the highest point, 4.5in wide at widest point. Opening has a diameter of around 0.75in and the base has a width of 2in. Condition is'Used' - Some surface scratching and wear.

Full Condition Report: One long scratch and patches of scuff scratching to the surface of both sides of the rounded part and scuffs to the very bottom just before base, and a light vertical scratch down from near the rim on the neck. Scratches aren't too noticeable and it displays well though you can see them close up. I have photographed the worst of it but please ask if you would like more photos. Also there's a coppery coloured mark on the bottom of the inside that I cannot get to with cleaning! Will probably come off with a proper bottle or glass cleaner.
