Very Tall Bottle Vase By Bertil Vallien For Kosta Boda

A tall Bertil Vallien bottle vase. Clear glass with an opalescent neck. Enamelled brown vortex over an opalescent neck transitioning to blood orange. Incised marks on polished pontil.

We believe this to be from the Aphrodite range produced in the mid 80s. Vallien is one of the most influential Scandanavian designers of the last 50 years, in the top division with Lindstrand and Palmqvist. He started his career as a potter in the United States and arrived at Kosta when the Afors was acquired. Better stil he us still designing!

I have been involved in the antiques business since 1971. My career took a leap forward when I joined Bonhams in 1976. Some five years later I became head of the Decorative Arts department.
