Rare Vintage Bertil Vallien Kosta Boda Super Egg Swedish Art Glass Bottle Vase
Bertil Vallien (Kosta Boda) - Supper Egg Vase (Artist Collection). 20Th century, creation for Kosta Boda, the oldest glassworks in Sweden (1742). It is a superb piece of art from Kosta Boda published in his "Artist Collection". This exquisite work of handblown Swedish art glass is by Bertil Vallien b. 1938 - , celebrated glass artist, sculptor, ceramist and designer.
This piece is the largest of the collectable Super Egg series from the'Artist Collection'. Concept was introduced by Vallien to give glass artists the freedom for personal, creative expression and to remove the'mass produced' feeling. Pieces are limited edition studio works, individual to the artist that created them.
This particular piece is gently sculptural and bulbed, the abstract bottle form is composed of a frosted and blue frit-glass neck, giving the closely freckled effect. This Vintage Scandinavian Art glass vase is measures approximately 6 1/2 high, 7 1/2 wide and 41/2 thick and it is in mint condition no defect. Super Egg is proof of top quality glass-blowing. All Super Egg items are blown free-hand without a mould, and it´s fascinationg to see how the glassblowers control the molten blob, inflating the glass to its maximum and then shaping it using wet newspaper.
