It appears that one small bubble was polished through at the surface near the base of this vase. I don't think it is a defect but rather part of the hand made art. Please look at the pictures closely at the base of the vase to inspect for yourself. It is difficult to see it at the bottom of the vase even though I have tried to highlight it with a bright light from different angles. I was with my Mom when she bought The Real Thing from Neiman Marcus..

The Chinese knockoffs look pretty good... You can tell the difference in the curling of the ribbons and the way that the ribbon strands begin and terminate with round to flat ribbon molten to a point not flailing free from each other as in the Chinese knockoffs and the real orange extends further into the clear. They are both beautiful pieces and won't be casually discerned from each other.
