RARE ERIK HOGLUND (SW ED EN) MID-20TH CENTURY VINTAGE KOSTA BODA 1960'S. SLAB ART GLASS BAS -RELIEF FACE. Mid-20th century Scandinavian vintage figurative.

Slab construction bas-relief art glass. 11" Height x 6 12" Width x 1 34 Depth.

There are two areas on the face that resemble hairline cracks, but they're actually visible, naturally occurring creases or'folds' in the glass and are a part of the glass slab construction process of the art glass bas-relief sculpture. However, there's one minor curved scratch at the upper back left side area which is unnoticeable through the front and doesn't detract from the overall viewing of the piece. The glass is structurally sound, with no flea-bites or glass loss to any of its edges or protruding facial features. It features semi-transparent cranberry red, tangerine, honey, cadmium yellow and clear glass color.

The somewhat pinched mouth and nose protrude from the slab away from the face. An extraordinary Modernist piece of figurative bas-relief art glass realized by Sw ed ish Modernist glass artist Erik Hoglund for the world-renowned Kosta Boda glass company of Sw ed en. Clean, mysterious, enigmatic and very handsome. Quite unusual and quite rare. Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
